I had a glue gun….
add ANYTHING else and there is really no limits to what could happen
Super easy thing IS super easy.I made it SO fast that there aren’t even photos of the process. It didn’t takes days…didn’t drive me crazy. It was literally me with a bright green swim suit I bought back in 2005,a hot glue gun with plenty of glue and some dollar store leaves.
Dollar store flowers I sometimes shy away from. They can look extremely fake…I can pick them out in photos when people use them. It’s a gift,ha! Sometimes though, they get in some good ones! I used one set of their flowers to add accents to the front and shoulders of this “costume”. The leaves are a bit different..pretty much any will do for this project.
I took one day and glued all the leaves onto the bikini. I just did the front because I ran out of leaves. I made it specifically to shoot in. If you take on a project similar just make sure you use lots of glue. I made this thing like 6 years ago and not one leaf/flower has ever fallen off. The headpiece was made just to sort of break up my hair color. I am wearing fake bangs and I felt it needed …something. It’s just a few leaves glued together and glued on top of a barrette, I already had, that snapped into my hair.
“Autumn seemed to arrive suddenly that year. The morning of the first September was crisp and golden as an apple.” ~J.K. Rowling
I was sneaking my burn gifted Triskele necklace into every shoot I could back then. I felt it looked appropriate for a wood spirit to be wearing it! It’s still one of my absolute favorite items ever gifted to me. It’s fragile, made from wood,so I don’t wear it often.
Me and Kristin aka Keymoon Photography shot in the always amazing and close to my heart…Guilford Woods. So many memories there It always proves to be a unique spot for photos even if you’re just trying to capture some woods.
“THERE is something in the autumn that is native to my blood—
Touch of manner, hint of mood;
And my heart is like a rhyme,
With the yellow and the purple and the crimson keeping time.”
~Bliss Carman

Also….it was not Summer when we took these. I think it was Winter going into Sprimg actually haha. I’m a little chilly. There were some random students about checking me out like I had lost my mindLong ago my children…LONG AGO.
“Every leaf speaks bliss to me
Fluttering from the autumn tree…”~Emily Bronte
I loved this tree. It’s magical. It’s hard to think you AREN’T a little tree spirit or wood nymph …with such beauty around. Look at all that love there…
Shooting with Kristin is like getting back a bunch of photos that are all your favorites. It’s difficult to choose which one is your top pick. She’s also a friend so it’s always a fun time! She’s great with posing and making images really feel a certain way.
“It looked like the world was covered in a cobbler crust of brown sugar and cinnamon.” ~Sarah Addison Allen
Autumn is the best time of year. Not because of dressing up…I do that all year. My whole life is a sort of Halloween. I’m either wearing costumes or making them for others. What I love about Autumn is the feel, the smell in the air…the dead before the rebirth of Spring. I love the darkness, the chill and all of its colors. Lughnasadh, Mabon and Samhain are all very magical points in my year. For some reason I seem to send out and recieve the most positive energies at these times
That’s what I miss about Blowing Rock most,I think. The continual sense of Autumn…even in the Summer. Winter sucked but you got used to it. Having that long extended sort of Autumn life more than made up for it. Well,as long as you aren’t living in a tiny house
“Love the trees until their leaves fall off, then encourage them to try again next year.”
~Chad Sugg
It’s almost that time again and I’m super excited this year because Greensboro is way too hot for me. I want to spend more time outside but these days the heat triggers my migraines. I’m currently holding off any more shoots until it gets cooler out. BUT I have some marvelous pieces for once it does. Stay tuned!
“Autumn…the year’s last, loveliest smile.”
